FMBC – Fernie Mountain Bike Club

We are a fully volunteer organization that focuses exclusively on mountain biking, dirt jumping and gravel biking in the Elk Valley. We hold events, camps and clinics for our members and families. We advocate for you, the local or visiting mountain biker, and look out for your best interests as a trail rider. We are responsible for the upkeep of the Fernie Dirt Jump Park, and we donate additional funds yearly to local trail building and maintenance groups, while working closely with them to keep biking trails a priority.3

 

FMBC is a member organization in the FTA and originator of several local races, including the Toonie Tuesday Series, Wam Bam Dirt Jump Jam and the High Roller & Low Roller races.

FMBC also hosts the free Wednesday Women’s Bike Ride group rides. Meet at 6pm at the Gazebo by the Aquatic Center to pick the route(s) based on the skill levels present that evening.

The Fernie Mountain Bike Club was established in 1990 as a loose-knit group of riders who met every Wednesday for a ride. Its mandate is as follows:

Our Purpose

  • To encourage participation in recreational and competitive cycling to people of all ages and abilities.
  • To promote responsible mountain biking practices.
  • Collaborate with other user groups.
  • To advocate that bike access and trail coordination becomes an integral part of the recreation philosophy and planning in Fernie.
  • To educate users on:
    • mountain bike safety,
    • mountain bike practices that minimize user conflicts, trail damage and ecological impact,
    • mountain bike trail planning, building and maintenance.
